Hymenectomy

A hymenectomy, also known as hymenotomy, is a surgical procedure to partially or completely remove the hymen, the thin membrane that partially covers the vaginal opening. The hymen can sometimes be too thick, rigid, or have an abnormal shape, which may cause discomfort, pain, or difficulties in sexual intercourse, tampon insertion, or menstrual flow. In such cases, a hymenectomy may be recommended to alleviate these issues.
